Position Description & Details
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, write, and edit external grant proposals to secure government and private funding for campus projects.
- Develop and maintain strategic external partnerships and relationships to enhance grant funding opportunities.
- Convene and facilitate faculty and staff teams for project planning and decision-making in grant proposal development.
- Collaborate with college leadership to explore pressing needs and external funding opportunities.
- Encourage and support faculty and staff in identifying potential funding sources.
- Stay well-informed about college programs, faculty and staff interests, and institutional priorities to align grant activities.
- Maintain effective relationships with college leadership, faculty, and staff to support grant initiatives.
- Provide expertise and guidance on grant administrative matters, including monitoring and interpreting federal and state regulations and college policies related to grant proposals.
- Research and prepare support documentation for grant projects, such as demographic analyses, surveys, impact statements, and environmental scans.
- Manage and utilize a database of grant activity to inform stakeholders and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate the submission approval process for grant funding solicitations and facilitate the preparation of proposals and interim/final reports to funders.
- Work closely with the Grants Accountant to prepare budgets and progress reports for ongoing grants and related projects.
- Participate in post-award grant team meetings to track progress, ensure compliance, and identify future funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with BSC Foundation & College Advancement staff on activities to support external funding efforts.
- Promote innovation and creativity to improve departmental processes and functions.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned to assist the college in achieving its goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate bachelor’s degree with two years of directly related experience.
- Experience in effectively planning, writing, and managing grant activities and funds.
- Fiscal and administrative experience in grants management
- Strategic thinking and planning skills as well as project management skills.
- Strong communication skills, written, oral, and listening.
- Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Excellent computer software skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook e-mail and calendar) and internet skills.
- Willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree and more than two years directly related experience
- Nationally recognized credential attainment such as GPC (Grant Professional Certified) or CGMS (Certified Grants Management Specialist).
