CNC Machinist/Operator

Job description

This is a CNC machinist position in an independent mechanical test lab, serving a wide variety of companies in industries including Space, Aerospace, Materials, and General Manufacturing, as well as universities and research laboratories. · Planning to hire one CNC machinist

Primary Responsibilities:

Everyone may not possess all the following skills before hiring but should have demonstrated ability to acquire these skills.

1. Be able to setup CNC machines based on part drawings.

2. Setup multiple work coordinates for duplicate parts.

3. Understand G-Codes to adjust cut parameters, if necessary.

4. Check work against blueprints using GD&T, inspect parts using calipers, micrometers (both digital and non-digital).

5. Perform machine maintenance such as adding and checking coolant concentrations, cleaning, and general maintenance.

6. Be able to adjust speeds and feeds to maximize tool life.

Required:

• Ability to read calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and shop drawings
• Strong attention to detail
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be comfortable working with computers.
• Basic machinist math skills
• Minimum 1 year of experience or equivalent training on CNC Mill and/or CNC Lathe
• Must be team oriented, with collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with Haas controls is a plus
• Manual machining with a small lathe/mill is preferred
• More than 2 years of machining experience is desirable, but not required.
• Experience with programing via controls/CAD system is a plus
• Motivated to learn new equipment and processes.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in any STEM area is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
