Position Summary:
As a Summer Learning Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in fostering a fun, safe, and educational environment for campers. You will assist with delivering engaging activities, supporting academic lessons, and encouraging social-emotional growth. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about education, mentorship, and creating a positive experience for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with campers in academic, recreational, and enrichment activities, ensuring safety and inclusivity.
- Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate lessons and activities focused on academic retention, life skills, and personal growth.
- Provide support to students in small groups or one-on-one to promote learning and skill development.
- Facilitate activities such as art, STEM projects, gardening, mindfulness exercises, and team-building games.
- Manage behavior using positive reinforcement strategies, including those based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
- Help set up and clean up classroom or activity areas daily.
- Communicate effectively with program staff, parents, and campers to create a positive and supportive environment.
- Monitor and ensure the physical and emotional well-being of campers at all times.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings before and during the program.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); pursuing a degree in education, child development, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or childcare setting.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about working with children.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and engage with children of various age groups effectively.
- Ability to assist with mobility or physical support, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with special needs or behavioral challenges.
- Familiarity with ABA principles or behavior management strategies.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain it before the start of the program.
Program Dates & Hours:
- Program Dates: June 16th, 2025 - August 1st, 2025
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 8a.m. - 4p.m. (Extended care available: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM)
Compensation:
