Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant position requires a comprehensive understanding of all accounting modules within the organization's accounting system, emphasizing a hands-on approach to fiscal management. This position is crucial for implementing a robust set of controls aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Essential Responsibilities:
- During the initial six to twelve months, this position will be responsible for all functions of accounts payable, including coding invoices, addressing inquiries from subcontractors, working with Project Managers to approve invoices, and ensuring all invoices have the necessary documentation, i.e., conditional waivers.
- Maintains a well-documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensures all state and local licenses are up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
- Collaborates with the Controller to finalize monthly closings, including reconciling bank statements, journal entries, and all balance sheet accounts.
- Reviews weekly estimated cost at completion reports from Project Managers and posts necessary adjustments.
- Prepares the monthly Work in Progress (WIP) for evaluation.
- Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations; vigilant in reporting any fraud, abuse, or waste of company assets, while also suggesting recommendations for fiscal improvement.
- Acts as a backup for Accounts Receivable and Payroll.
- Performs special assignments and other duties as directed by the Controller.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5 years of Construction Accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft 365.
