What You’ll Do:
As a Front of House Associate, you are the face of BKLYN Larder. Whether you’re helping a regular customer discover a new favorite cheese or setting up a gorgeous food display, you’ll play a key role in shaping the customer experience.
You’ll engage with a diverse range of customers—from neighborhood locals to weekend foodies and even the occasional celebrity—offering thoughtful recommendations, genuine hospitality, and top-tier service. We want our guests to feel like they’re stepping into the home of a trusted food expert, not just shopping in a store.
Beyond the counter, you’ll also represent BKLYN Larder at events, on social media, and within the community, sharing our passion for great food.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Experience & Sales
- Create a welcoming, engaging, and memorable experience for every customer.
- Provide expert guidance on cheeses, meats, and specialty provisions—offering samples and pairing suggestions.
- Take customer orders for sandwiches, prepared foods, and catering with care and accuracy.
- Resolve customer inquiries, order issues, and special requests with professionalism.
Cheese & Specialty Food Handling
- Cut, wrap, and label cheeses and cured meats with precision.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of all cheeses by following proper storage and rotation practices.
- Educate customers on cheese origins, flavors, and ideal pairings.
- Ensure visually appealing and well-stocked cheese and provisions displays.
Food & Merchandising Presentation
- Set up and maintain beautiful and enticing displays of prepared foods, pastries, and specialty items.
- Ensure all food is stocked, labeled, and presented at the highest standards.
- Rotate inventory and inspect for freshness, following food safety best practices.
- Assist in creating seasonal and promotional product displays.
Operations & Register Management
- Operate the POS system for sales, refunds, and exchanges.
- Process online and phone orders efficiently, ensuring accurate fulfillment.
- Receive and stock new deliveries, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
- Maintain accurate pricing and signage for all products.
- Follow cash-handling procedures and ensure register accuracy.
Store Cleanliness & Food Safety
- Maintain a spotless and well-organized store at all times.
- Follow strict food safety and sanitation protocols.
- Regularly clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
- Assist with daily and weekly deep-cleaning tasks.
Team Collaboration & Growth
- Work closely with fellow team members to keep operations smooth and efficient.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and management about stock levels, customer feedback, and special orders.
- Help host in-store tastings and events to engage with customers and build community.
- Continue learning and developing your knowledge of cheese, food trends, and retail skills.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the business.
