What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Technician / Equipment Operator position at BLACK GOLD FARMS?
Black Gold Farms has an opportunity available at its Arbyrd, MO location for a Farm Technician/ Equipment Operator. This position is a critical part of the farm operation and will assist the Farm Manager, Agronomist, and Equipment Specialist in all phases of farm work with the major focus on “Tour Ready,” farm efficiency, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and govern yourself in such a manner so that you present a positive image of Black Gold anywhere and at any time.
- Assist in farm work as necessary by being available and arriving at work on time to begin daily operations.
- Accept responsibility for safety and fire prevention by keeping buildings, grounds and vehicles in good repair and “Tour Ready.” Correct unsafe work conditions and bring them to the attention of the Farm Manager immediately.
- Keep all vehicles, machinery and facilities in a clean and field ready condition. Keep maintenance records up to date by coordinating with the Equipment Specialist.
- Assist the Farm Manager, Agronomist, and Equipment Specialist as required or expected in the day-to-day operations.
- Assist in moving trucks and equipment among farms as required.
- Be aware of and prepared for the possibility of helping out in other Black Gold areas as needed.
- Maintain, repair, install and operate equipment as requested or expected by the Farm Manager, Agronomist and Equipment Specialist. Acquire skills as required to accomplish expectations.
- Inform Farm Manager and Agronomist of any adverse field conditions. Assist with field monitoring and/or yield sampling. Become familiar with crop stages and basic pests.
- Assist the Farm Manager with all USDA, DOT, OSHA, and pesticide reporting regulations by completing required documentation and working with the Farm Team to make sure Black Gold is always in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Fill out required paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Anticipate needs and perform maintenance to prevent breakdowns as directed by the Farm Manager or Equipment Specialist.
- Fabricate and/or repair parts and equipment as required so that outside fabrication services are only occasionally required.
- Maintain a shop environment that is clean, safe and conducive to repairs and fabrication as required.
- Support a culture of ZERO tolerance for fraud, theft, immoral and/or illegal activity on or around Black Gold facilities/operations or by Black Gold employees, contractors, guests or visitors and report all illegal incidents to the Farm Manager immediately.
- Cooperate with other full-time Black Gold employees to accomplish the above while setting an example for part-time and newer Black Gold employees or those who wish to become Black Gold employees to follow.
Required

- Basic Mechanical skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
