Black Gold Farms has an opportunity available for a Maintenance Technician / Equipment Specialist at its Rhodesdale, MD farm. This role is critical to the success of the operation.
Who We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate would be an individual that is self-motivated and proactive. This position requires a high level of accountability and follow-through on all projects, requiring great attention to detail. The person filling this role must have good communication and people skills.
The Role:
The Equipment Specialist is an essential position to help us maximize operational reliability through the effective maintenance, operation, and repair of equipment and related components at the highest level of quality. All work must be completed in a safe, professional, and timely manner. This individual must be able to balance performing their work as efficiently and as possible, while maintaining a sense of urgency and thoroughness. Extended hours and weekends will be required during peak planting and harvest seasons.
Previous experience working on agriculture-related equipment, such as planters, harvesters, conveyer systems or wash lines is a bonus!
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring equipment readiness through proper set up and maintenance
- Providing training to fellow employees to assist with peak season operations
- Creating proactive plans to prevent equipment downtime through maintenance, parts inventory, and training
- Clearly communicating with the operations team to ensure parts are ordered and received in a timely manner
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, hydraulic systems, as well as gas and diesel engines
- Inventorying, organizing, and cataloging parts
- Maintaining accurate record keeping on equipment maintenance needs and common points of failure to mitigate downtime
- Cleaning up tools and work areas after each project, keeping indoor and outdoor workstations clean and clear from obstructions
- Maintaining a safe and secure work environment by adhering to safety standards, striving to improve safety standards, and addressing any unsafe activity
- Keeping detailed paperwork
- Participating in planting and harvest planning
- Assisting in moving equipment to other farms as needed
- Performing related tasks as assigned
Required Experience:
- Preventative maintenance
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Inventory control
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid drivers license
- Electrical knowledge/experience (vfd and plc)
- GPS setup and operation
Desired Experience:
- Welding
- Inventory tracking, maintenance scheduling experience
- Diesel knowledge/experience
- Farm equipment experience
