Newpoint Services, a regional property services contractor specializing in commercial parking garage sweeping and pressure washing, is seeking a skilled and motivated Fleet and Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team.
About the Role
As the Fleet and Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet of vehicles and equipment while supporting our field operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles, tools, and machinery are operational, safe, and in excellent condition. Additionally, you will assist with job-site projects and train team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a fleet of over 20 pickup trucks and trailers, plus pressure washing machines, ride-on sweepers and scrubbers, backpack blowers, walk-behind blowers and other items.
- Perform preventative maintenance and be able to diagnose and repair gas engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, and differentials.
- Weld and fabricate parts as necessary (preferred but not required).
- Organize and maintain records of repairs, parts orders, and billing using Microsoft Excel or other computer-based applications.
- Perform DOT inspections and analyze Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Assist with job-site tasks such as installing bollards, wheel stops, speed bumps, and signage (on walls or in the ground).
- Train team members on proper equipment operation, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
- Work safely and autonomously, adhering to all company protocols.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in fleet truck repair and maintenance.
- Proven experience with gas engines, hydraulic systems, and equipment maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Computer literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- DOT certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Ability to travel occasionally to job sites as needed.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (preferred).
- Mechanic has their own tools (preferred) and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Ability to work in both a shop and field environment, with exposure to varying weather,
noise, dust, grease, and fumes. - Must be able to lift, push, and pull moderate to heavy weights.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for prolonged periods.
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
