Position summary :
Responsible for the day-to-day management of Black Hills Energy's (BHE) material standards, material failure program, and material committee. Updating the BHE O&M with PHMSA changes and requirements regarding pipeline materials. Provide support to integrity managers, corrosion personnel, design engineering, operation teams, and supply chain regarding material standardization and known problems with associated with previous work practices and materials. Investigate and review material failures.
Pay Range : This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Level I : $90,900 - $136,500
Senior : $103,150 - $170,200
Reporting Relationship : Manager, Standards Materials and DIMP
Location : Council Bluffs, Iowa; Fayetteville, Arkansas; or Fountain, Colorado

Essential Functions :
- Provides support and service to natural gas distribution operations in the company's multiple state natural gas business. Maintains a successful partnership with Gas Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, materials vendors and manufacturers.
- Manage BHE Material standards and provide support of the Gas Operations and Maintenance manual, Gas DIMP, TIMP, and SIMP Manuals.
- Be familiar with 49 CFR 192, ASME B31.8, and other standards incorporated by reference related to material specification, pipeline and facility design and specification.
- Be familiar with trends related to the materials in gas distribution network piping. Including participation in national and regional organizations, (AGA, NACE, MEA, and others).
- Development and maintenance of material failure database and providing reports and recommendations based on trends. Analyzing material failures utilizing hands on methods of testing and / or working with 3rd parties for support.
- Lead efforts to research, vet, and approve new or alternative materials and equipment for use in the natural gas system.
- Responsible for providing technical expertise in regulatory matters relating to materials standards.
- Participates in external audit preparation and data gathering in order to demonstrate compliance. Perform and provide support for internal audits and assessments.
