Job Specifications
Operate and maintain the Black Hills Energy Meter Data Management System with accentuation of data integrity. Lead the continuous efficient and effective accumulation, analysis, and reporting of energy collection measurements from the Black Hills Energy electric and gas distribution networks into the MDMS System, with an emphasis on endpoint energy delivery.
PAY RANGE: $23.20 - $34.66 per hour (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager, MDMS & Analytics
LOCATION: Our corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor the fulfillment of billing requests; troubleshoot estimate missing and non-validated register read data as necessary, and manually fulfill billing exceptions.
- Review, investigate and correct sync errors from CIS system source data on a daily basis.
- Utilize system-generated activity logs to troubleshoot and resolve data issues and errors.
- Edit, validate and correct interval read data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve meter exchange, connect/disconnect and order errors and exceptions.
- Work with electric and gas AMI/AMR system administrators and meter shops to update and correct meter measuring components as necessary.
- Modify and run SQL scripts to query Oracle database for use in daily operations and to investigate data errors and anomalies.
- Assist with testing and implementation of system changes, including system patches and software upgrades, updates to configuration, rule sheets and interfaces as necessary.
- Analyze and evaluate existing system processes and procedures, make recommendations to streamline and improve, and assist with implementation of approved changes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strong customer service to internal customers.
- Serve as process expert to internal customers.
- Additional projects as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of (1) one year of experience with CIS and billing systems or other applicable experience required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- CIS and Billing knowledge desired.
- Knowledge of electric and gas utility metering operations, AMI/AMR, MDMS beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel and Word, CIS .
- Performs responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Jobs are sedentary if moving about is only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Work environment: Routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
