Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. BHSSC is comprised of five divisions dedicated to aiding school districts, individuals, and the communities. BHSSC is seeking outgoing individuals to join our team Teaching one or more subjects to students in a setting that serves students 18 years of age. The GED Instructor works directly with students, instructors, and other educational leaders. BHSSC provides excellent service and supports to the people we support & assist in furthering our mission! Duties and Responsibilities
- Orientate new students into the classroom.
- Sometimes perform intake testing on new students.
- Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Prepare course objectives and outline for the course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
- Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning, such as attending to tasks, developing social relationships, and utilizing educational materials.
- Assign lessons and correct homework.
- Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports to inform students of progress. Maintain accurate assessment records, goals, and progress reports on each student.
- Modify or adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the student.
- Keep attendance records.
- Ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
- Meet with students to discuss their progress and problems.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Perform related duties such as assisting students in selecting courses of study and counseling students in adjustment and academic problems.
- Compose, type, and maintain routine correspondence, reports, and various other materials and projects. Submit reports and documents as deemed necessary.
- Operate office equipment, including computers and educational equipment.
- Perform all duties in compliance with safety standards established by BHSSC.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work well with subordinates, public entities, educational professionals, etc.
