Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Job Summary: DSPs work with people who have intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities, providing the support they need in daily life. This may mean that people require support to communicate, eat, manage medications, maintain personal hygiene, use technology to stay in touch with family & friends, and so much more. DSPs assist people to get out and participate in a variety of activities/community life, to experience new things and to pursue their own goals.
The work of a DSP is complex and goes well beyond caregiving, requiring skills including independent problem solving, decision making, behavioral assessment and prevention, teaching new skills, crisis prevention and intervention and more.
- BHSSC is looking for a full-time overnight shift, Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work in a residential setting in Sturgis. This position requires the DSP to be awake from 9 pm to 9 am, and the employee is responsible for a number of cleaning, cooking, and supervision responsibilities.
- Full time employees, working 40 hours are eligible for an excellent benefits package, including individual health, dental and life insurance, Paid Personal Leave, and participation in the SD Retirement System. Employees pay approximately $30 per pay period for single benefits.
Salary: Wage is $23.00/hour for overnight shift.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a background check
- Reference check
- Must pass Physical and drug screening
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
