Black Hill State University is seeking applications for the position of Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs.
DUTIES
The successful applicant will attract and manage extramural grant and contract funding to support the research service and instructional components of the university mission. While assisting faculty and staff in identifying external funding, the director also facilitates the development and submission of proposals, interprets and guides compliance with agency requirements, and provides oversight to pre-award services and post-award accounting. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor degree in public administration, business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience required.
- Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Experience in grant writing, administration, and application transmission, including federal grant applications and reporting.
- Understanding of federal guidelines, and prefer working knowledge of grants.gov, Fastlane and other federal electronic databases.
- Familiarity with standard research compliance issues and processes, including IRB, IACUC and Biosafety requirements and RCR training.
- Ability to negotiate contracts.
- Exceptional management, organizational, writing, and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and with discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and sometimes within a very short, restrictive timeframe.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to develop proposals and manage grants.
- Technology proficiency with internet, email, and word processing, with preference given to those with adeptness with web page editing, and EXCEL and BANNER software.
