The GIS Specialist is located in Salt Lake City, UT and typically reports directly to the Department Supervisor.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create and manage utility data for customers including but not limited to municipalities and utility service providers
- Utilize survey data to generate plans and maps.
- Perform QA/QC on incoming data and outgoing deliverables to ensure a complete and accurate product.
- Take lead on new GIS initiatives and provide related support to coworkers and clients.
- Participate in the acquisition of on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
- Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying and scanning of drawings, prints and maps.
- Follow quality practice and procedures by self-checking all work product and checking the work of others as required.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Perform and update records in ArcPro and ArcGIS Online.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Individuals holding or pursuing a Bachelor’s in Geography, GIS, or a related discipline will be preferred.
- Certification in any of the following areas will also increase consideration:
- Data Science
- Geomatics
- GIS
- Individuals with experience in electrical distribution systems or telecommunication will be preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
- Field collection and coordination management
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS ESRI Mobile Apps preferred
- Understanding of Geodatabases and use of Microsoft Excel
- Motivated individual with a knack for technology based solutions for problem solving
