- Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public so as to uphold Black Mountain Home’s mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families.
- Attend staff and team meetings, which include participation in a time of Christian devotion and prayer. Review minutes and sign off for missed staff meetings to stay aware of ministry updates.
- Pray regularly for the youth, staff, volunteers, donors, and ministry impact.
- Support the Development and Community Relations team’s efforts to create, implement, and evaluate fundraising and marketing strategies in order to provide the resources needed to sustain and grow the ministry.
- Create content and serve as project manager for direct mail and other print and digital communications, including segmentation, solicitation design, stewardship mailings, and other relationship-building initiatives.
- Leads efforts to engage and continuously increase support from individuals, businesses, churches, and other organizations to broaden annual giving and create pipelines for major/planned giving.
- Lead efforts to increase awareness and support of ministry, including specific programs within the ministry, as well as the thrift store, café, retreat center, and other.
- Develop and implement stewardship and retention strategies for key constituencies.
- Maintain up-to-date brochures and flyers for ministry programs, on social media, and on websites.
- Create invitations, promotional materials, and sponsor guides for multiple events throughout the year.
- Adhere to IRS nonprofit gift accounting guidelines and internal best practices and share these with team members as needed holding them accountable and in alignment with same.
- Provide back-up and support to the team by assisting with frontline stewardship activities, such as answering phones, greeting visitors, processing mail, assisting with deposits, and other as needed.
- Provide back-up and support for special events, projects, liaison program, community relations, social media, and other as needed.
- Work both independently and collaboratively, as needed; problem solve; be a learner; and maintain a continuous improvement approach to skills and tasks.
- Complete other projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser's Edge, or similar donor database platform
- Three years of experience in the following areas: Donor Communication and Stewardship, Annual Fund and Direct Mail Management and Fundraising and Marketing Content
