Purpose

The Development Officer assists the Resource Development Director in creating and implementing the organization’s strategic development and communications plan. This position involves a combination of fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement. The Development Officer is responsible for donor generation and cultivation of faith communities and businesses to secure support for Homeward Bound’s programs, in addition to managing the donor database and planning/implementing fundraising and community events.

Activities And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Resource Development Director in strategic planning for the department and the implementation of an annual development plan
  • Lead the development of private business sector support, including annual sponsorships and local business engagement
  • Lead the development of faith community support
  • Assist the Resource Development Director to generate and cultivate donors and ensure strong stewardship is in place for retention and growth
  • Manage the donor database, to include leading all data analysis to track and report on the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns and events
  • Work with Resource Development staff and Committee to plan and implement fundraising events, donor cultivation receptions, and community events
  • Lead the prospecting process of ongoing identification of potential donors who have a passion for our mission
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Resource Development Director
