What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floor Houseperson position at Black Oak Casino Hotel?
SUMMARY: Responsible for cleaning hallways, elevators, service areas, stairwells and public areas in a safe, efficient, professional and friendly manner.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: (Specific areas of responsibility including, but not limited to)
- Receives and reviews assignments, priority requests, keys and supplies from Hotel Housekeeping Management.
- Retrieves and stocks caddie/cart to ensure all necessary supplies are available.
- Cleans and stocks assigned public areas. This includes dusting, polishing, vacuuming, glass cleaning, trash removal, etc.
- Performs quality checks on public space televisions, telephones and lamps.
- Assists Guest Room Attendants and Guests with requested items such as portable refrigerators, rollaway beds, cribs, etc.
- Walks all assigned spaces at beginning and end of shift. Removes soiled linen, towels and trash and places them in assigned locations as instructed.
- Turns in keys, properly stores and secures caddie/cart and unused supplies at end of shift.
- Responds to and immediately resolves housekeeping requests and complaints by Guests.
- Promptly report any incidents of Guest dissatisfaction or unusual matters of significance to Manager/Supervisor so that corrective action may be taken.
- Promptly delivers all articles left in public spaces to Hotel Housekeeping Management for entry into Lost and Found.
- Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, mechanical problems and safety hazards to Hotel Housekeeping Management.
- Writes shift reports including any incident of theft, accident or injury as assigned.
- Maintains a positive attitude and acts in a consistently professional and pleasant manner towards Guests and Team Members.
- Answers inquiries about Resort services and events, directions, local attractions, etc.
- Ensures all communication containing Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians; TEDA, Inc.; Black Oak Casino Resort; and Guest information is consistent with privacy policies and practices.
- Performs other duties and attends to special projects as assigned.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Must possess a high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience in guest service and the hospitality industry preferred.
- Existing knowledge of floor (carpet, hardwood, tile, etc.) care and maintenance preferred.
- Must complete Blood Borne Pathogen training.
- Must be able to provide friendly guest service.
- Must be able to understand and comply with proper cleaning techniques, procedures and hotel standards.
- Must be able to operate a vacuum, mop and properly use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Must give strong attention to detail and possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment (sometimes under pressure) while remaining professional, flexible, and efficient.
- Must have effective listening and communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.
- May be required to possess and maintain a valid California driver license and Black Oak Casino drivers permit.
- Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test and background check.
- Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
- Must be physically able to perform all job requirements.
- Exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment.
Work Environment:
- The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
