As a Medical Assistant at Black River Health, you will assist with various patient duties including; collaboration with licensed medical providers to address patient needs, answering questions, providing patient care; taking vitals and histories, giving immunizations, assisting with phone triage under direct supervision of a provider, assisting with procedures, patient education, scheduling patient appointments, and other duties as assigned. The position available is:
- Full-time, 74 hours per pay period, benefited. Day Shift M-F
Essential Duties Include:
- Performs various functions in the Clinic, including documenting objective information during phone interactions and coordinating patient care information with licensed healthcare providers by returning phone calls and notifying patients or care teams of results.
- Utilizes an online scheduling system to schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate necessary tests or procedures in collaboration with other departments and healthcare facilities.
- Prepares patient for examination/treatment by obtaining and documenting in the electronic medical record the patient’s medical history and reason for visit, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing current medications and allergies.
- Documents accurate information on patient visits. Enters patient charges into the Electronic Health Record system as appropriate.
- Provides patient instruction for their follow-up appointments, upcoming procedures under the direction of the provider. Provides patients with documentation and ensures patients understand the information.
- Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient. Properly handle biohazardous materials following waste disposal guidelines.
Educational Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience preferred
- One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or able to complete within three months of hire
- Knowledge of basic office procedures, equipment, and computer systems preferred
