We’re seeking a Rehab Service Technician to evaluate, build, repair and maintain complex rehab and durable medical equipment. Schedule is fixed during training and flexible work week may be available once training is complete. On-call rotation includes about 10 weeks per year where technicians take emergency phone calls in the evening and on Saturday and Sunday, typically no more than 10 calls a week, and time is compensated. The ideal candidate will have good communication and computer skills, experience with both hand and shop tools, be familiar with mechanical or electronic devices, and possess valid driver’s license and good driving record. Background in healthcare related industry is helpful.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
HOURS OF WORK: Flexible 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
1 week on-call rotation including Saturday and Sunday
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or equivalent. Familiar with hand/power tools and computers. Understands anatomical terms. Must have good problem solving, written and oral communication skills. Electrical/mechanical knowledge or experience in assembly is helpful. Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Computer knowledge is required. Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Background in healthcare related industry is helpful.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate rehab equipment for needed repairs.
- Repair, modify, assemble and clean rehab and durable medical equipment per specs and manufacturer guidelines.
- Implement and interface custom fabrications and stock parts on equipment.
- Complete work orders verifying manufacturer information and details of work completed.
- Obtain quotes for repairs, modifications and inventory.
- Assist team members, patients and caregivers on use, setup or troubleshooting of equipment.
- Communicate necessary information with team members, supervisors and patients.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to Blackburn’s cleaning policy.
- Properly tag equipment and return to its proper place.
- Logs equipment coming in/out of shop properly.
- Repair all cleaned equipment prior to returning to stock.
- On call rotation.
- Provide technical support to customer service and sales department.
- Maintains vehicle inventory of stocked parts.
- Maintains company vehicle per Blackburn’s Corporate Vehicle policy.
- Adheres to company policy on infection control and safety.
- Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by management.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
· Attends educational workshops
· Attends/conducts in-services on rehab equipment
· Obtain 10 CEU credits per year as required
