SUMMARY : The Tool Grinder is responsible for tooling to manufacturer or customer specifications, at an affordable cost savings, and understanding each customer job application to insure tools are made correctly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Personally exhibits, recruits and coaches associates consistent with Core BehaviorsResponsible for promoting culture of safetySort toolingSet up the machinePrep and set up jobs to be run for each applicationGrind tooling according to tool specsClean / inspect machinery and tools.Inspect jobs after final operationRespond to commonly occurring problems / situations for which standards, procedures or precedents existPerform all tasks in accordance to ISOQUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge of material and tooling typesKnowledge of the machine and its capabilities, Tru-Tech, Cylindrical Grinding Machines, Manual Grinding MachinesKnowledge of what the tool is and how it is usedAbility to look for bad grinds or chips in the tool by using eye lopes and magnifiersAbility to read blue printsKnowledge and ability to use micrometers, Vernier, radius gagesUnderstanding of what wheel to use for each jobCompetent with applying math skills / tool geometrySUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
No direct supervisory responsibilitiesEDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
High School diploma or equivalent requiredUp to 2 years of experience in a similar position requiredCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
None requiredCNC certificate preferredWORK ENVIRONMENT :
Good working conditions. Environment may be slightly dirty or involve occasional exposure to elements. Work is generally performed during traditional working hours; regular day hours Monday through Friday; although there may be some changes to work schedule to include some weekends or evenings.Employee is regularly required to speak and understand English, stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
