About the Position:
The Blackhawk School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technology to oversee and advance our district’s technological infrastructure, support staff and student technology needs, and ensure the effective implementation of the District’s Technology Plan. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the district’s technology systems, supervising technical personnel, and planning for future technological advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the district’s technology department, including scheduling and directing technical personnel.
- Develop and implement the district’s Technology Improvement and Implementation Plan.
- Manage the purchasing, installation, maintenance, and repair of all hardware and software.
- Oversee district-wide access control and digital video systems.
- Ensure compliance with technology-related policies and investigate any suspected misuse.
- Collaborate with district leadership to establish long-term technology strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between the district and external technology vendors and contractors.
- Develop and manage the technology department’s budget.
- Participate in security and crisis management teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in technology systems maintenance within a public or private sector.
- Strong knowledge of hardware and software installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
- Ability to obtain necessary technology certifications.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time (260-day position) with potential on-call responsibilities.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 30 lbs, climbing ladders, and running wire.
- Work hours generally align with student attendance (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), with flexibility as approved by the Superintendent.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary based on the Act 93 Compensation Program (Group B).

Pay: $108,205.00 - $120,609.00 per year
