What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advising Services Intern position at Blackhawk Technical College?
Overview
The Intern will assist new and current students to help them achieve their academic and career goals. The goal of this position is to provide the intern with an experience that exposes them to an academic advisor role at Blackhawk Technical College.
Position will average 10 to 15 hours per week, the position will work the Summer of 2025 and will end in late August.
Responsibilities
- Shadow academic advisors during student appointments, providing support to new, transfer, and continuing students
- Coordinate Advising, Registration, and Orientation (ARO) sessions
- Assist in coordinating the Advising, Registration, and Onboarding Process by organizing schedules, communicating with students, and ensuring a smooth transition into the college.
- Assist in coordination of Peer Advising Program.
- Maintain records of student contacts by completing data related tasks
- Assist with program orientation materials, group advising, and class visits.
- Learn the student information system, Banner Student, and Early Alert System.
- Assist with tracking, compling, and entering grant information.
- Adhere to FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality with student records and data.
