Position Overview
The Crew Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics of all field drilling crews, ensuring the efficient allocation of personnel to job sites. This role works closely with the operations, safety, and hiring teams to identify appropriate crews for each project and arranges all travel logistics, including transportation to and from job locations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and willing to engage with our operations team to ensure there is always adequate crew coverage for drilling operations. In the event of scheduling conflicts or emergencies, the Administrator will act quickly to find suitable replacements, minimizing any potential downtime.
This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
- The regular schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 am-5pm (after hours and weekends when needed).
- This role will be mainly remote, however some travel will be required.
- Ability to respond to urgent matters outside of regular business hours will be required.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the operations team to allocate drilling crews for each project, considering skill levels, certifications, and project requirements.
- Work with recruiting/hiring team to make sure we have adequate staff for ongoing and/or upcoming work.
- Arrange all travel logistics for field crews, including flights or ground transportation, and when needed, accommodation.
- Maintain a detailed schedule of crew assignments and ensure that all crew members are informed of their schedules and travel arrangements.
- Monitor crew availability and proactively address any potential gaps in coverage to avoid downtime.
- Respond promptly to changes in crew availability (e.g., illness, emergencies, terminations) by quickly arranging suitable replacements.
- Maintain open communication with field crews and operations, to ensure alignment and readiness for upcoming jobs.
- Assist with the onboarding of new crew members and ensure they are briefed on travel logistics and project requirements.
- Continuously improve processes for crew logistics, identifying areas for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Work with Operations Managers to identify who will attend advanced training, schedule the training/travel, and ensure coverage is available.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or logistics is a plus.
- Previous experience in logistics, operations coordination, or field crew management is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple schedules.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of the minerals drilling industry preferred.
- Experience with travel management tools and systems preferred.
- Experience with scheduling software is a plus.
