Municipals (Munis) - DIR, Credit Specialist / Municipal Trader

Job Purpose/Background:

With over $159 billion in assets under management, the BlackRock Municipal Bonds group is one of the largest municipal mangers and a recognized leader in the industry. The Municipal Bonds group is made up of a seasoned team of portfolio managers, traders, credit analysts, market and product strategists and our risk and quantitative analytics team. The team provides investors with the experience and ability to navigate fast moving markets. We offer a range of products and benchmark-relative municipal bond funds, ETF’s and Separately Managed Accounts (SMA’s) providing investors with exposure to different segments of the bond market including investment grade, high yield, taxable and tax-exempt solutions across the entire yield curve and credit spectrum.

Position Overview:

• Involved in all aspects of the municipal separately managed account platform, including both the retail and institutional businesses.  Responsibilities include but not limited to trading, fixed income valuation, portfolio positioning input, risk metric analysis, and in-depth credit review of portfolio holdings. 
• Work closely with the Portfolio Management and Municipal Credit Research teams during the portfolio construction process.   
• Lead the coordination of portfolio reviews from both a credit and structure perspective for both existing and prospective clients.  Effectively communicate portfolio findings to Portfolio Management teams or the client directly. 
• Market reconnaissance and the ability to uncover alpha generation opportunities in the market
• Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and all relevant client restrictions.
• Participate in local and global investment strategy meetings.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS is required with a preference for an advanced degree. 
• 10 years relevant fixed-income market experience, preferably with a focus on municipal securities
• Understanding of performance-oriented environment. Must demonstrate passion for financial markets.
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to apply relative value analysis, including both micro and macro factors to construct a portfolio which meets stated objectives.
• Standout colleague, coupled with a sense of accountability and professionalism while acting as a fiduciary
• Detailed and organized with a strong focus on attention to detail.
• Experience in Aladdin platform, Bloomberg API, Tableau and Excel.  Knowledge of machine learning, data analytics, and/or data modeling.
