The Youth Program Driver/Position is an internal position that performs semiskilled work operating a vehicle to transport participants to activities for the Youth Programs division of Recreation Department, as well as assisting in the supervision of participants during activities. Youth program trips are typically conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM during summer months but may vary according to the trip venues assigned each day. Trip times will vary from one-half day (3-6 hours) up to and including, one full day (8 hours). The selected applicant must possess a schedule that allows for some flexibility and have the ability to work on various days, to include weekends, given sufficient notice. Work is performed under the general supervision of the applicable Recreation Department Supervisor.**A pre-employment drug screening is required for this position and the CDL drug testing guidelines will be followed during the employment period**The Town of Blacksburg is an EEO Employer M/F/D/V

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of forceWork regularly requires sitting for up to 3 hours, speaking or hearing, and occasionally requires standing, walkingWork has standard vision requirementsVocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken wordHearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in soundWork requires operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activitiesWork occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to vibration and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipmentWork is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic)
