Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education plans for students with special needs. Your role will involve providing support, adapting curriculum, and collaborating with other educators to ensure the academic success and social development of each student.
Responsibilities:
- Follow IDEA, and O.C.R. regulations to ensure that time constraints are adhered and parent/student rights are upheld.
- Encourage involvement of parents in the evaluation process through written and verbal communications.
- Coordinate and Chair the Evaluation Team’s approach in the complete assessment of students.
- Involve Team members in developing an Individual Educational Plan.
- Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records, educational plans and reports on all students receiving Special Education services.
- Conduct all necessary and prescribed conferences with parents, teachers, administrators, consultants, and related outside agency personnel
- Keep administrators and staff members well informed about student case processing.
- Help plan for the integration of students into less restrictive environments.
- Work cooperatively with Special Education Director and School Administrative Staff.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the Special Education Director.
- Work constructively and cooperatively with others in identifying and solving issues and problems to effectuate and maintain quality education.
- Perform such other tasks as the Director of Special Education or building administrator may from time to time assign.
- Develop and maintain a complete and cumulative database of students receiving special education services.
- Review and monitor generated Individual Education Plans.
Experience:
- MA DESE Licensure in Administration (Special Education preferred or related field -e.g., Assistant Principal/Principal)
- Three years in special education teaching or related service role
- Experience Facilitating Special Education Team meetings
- Knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations
- Knowledge of special education eligibility criteria
- Knowledge of behavioral and academic interventions and supports
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Exemplary Organizational skills
- Familiarity with special education data management software.
