Join our team as a Law Enforcement Advocate
The Law Enforcement Advocate is responsible for implementing and coordinating the Law Enforcement Advocate Program in collaboration with the Barrington, Bristol, East Providence and Warren, RI Police Departments. This position aims to support victims of domestic violence by working alongside law enforcement officers, offering services, and ensuring victims receive necessary resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist Police Officers: Provide guidance and essential information to officers working with victims of domestic violence.
- Victim Support: Meet with victims, either at the scene with police accompaniment, at the police department, or in a hospital, offering immediate support and follow-up services. Develop safety plans for victims.
- Referral Services: Assist victims in filing restraining orders and refer them to additional resources such as legal aid, counseling, and shelters.
- Reports and Documentation: Maintain accurate reports and statistics on domestic violence cases for organizational use and legal purposes.
- Training and Education: Support the training of police officers, community members, and other agencies on domestic violence-related issues and available resources.
- Community Representation: Represent the organization at community meetings, roundtables, conferences, and police in-service trainings.
- Accompaniment Services: Provide hospital and court accompaniment for victims to ensure they are supported during critical moments.
- Professional Development: Participate in relevant conferences and in-service training to stay current on best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to provide assistance and communicate effectively with victims and a diverse community.
Crisis Management: Capability to remain calm and effective in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage administrative tasks and case documentation efficiently.
Understanding of Domestic Violence: Deep knowledge of domestic violence issues and support mechanisms.
Reliable transportation - Travel between building necessary
Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Bilingual Requirement: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
