About the Position:
The Wholesale Manager is a critical role in the success of our step into the B2B wholesale market of Massachusetts. This role will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of a wholesale distribution strategy aligned with our organizational goals and values. From there, this person will on an ongoing basis, build, foster, and maintain positive business relationships throughout our market with our customers. They will ensure achievement of sales targets and individual sales KPIs across our portfolio of brands. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who can identify needs and opportunities, a person who will roll their sleeves up and dive in.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategically identify potential customers who align with BVC’s core beliefs, initiate, and manage prospects through the sales pipeline, and close opportunities.
- Utilize data analytics to responsibly manage inventory levels
- Generate purchase orders and sales invoices for finished goods managed through Apex software
- Establish strong relationships with customers through site visits, educational support, and providing a presence for promotional events
- Report weekly on KPI’s for all sold products with a focus on sales vs. plan and target margains.
- Deliver on KPI’s such as increased distribution, re-order rates, and successful new product launches
- Engages and coordinates with the Processing and Inventory teams for up-to-date product availability to consistently support order fulfillment.
- Partners cross-functionally with various departments including marketing, planning and inventory to ensure customer satisfaction
- Present customers with product benefits, features, pricing, credit terms for full cycle of wholesale sales including investigating and correcting any customer issues
- Be the primary point of contact for all wholesale customers with a demonstrated high level of customer service
- Participate in the forecasting of monthly, quarterly and annual sales effectively
- Constantly pursue a deep knowledge of market demands, trends and competitive analysis in cannabis and effectively translate those into actionable business objectives and operating plans.
- Monitor competition and market trends by gathering information on pricing, products, market presence, and other key factors.
- Participates in trade shows and other industry-related events, including evenings, weekends or holidays as needed
- Solicits feedback to ensure that customer satisfaction and quality of product is always top-of-mind and addressed, as necessary
- Track, manage and report all expenses, while adhering to communicated budgets
- Continually demonstrate strong business and financial acumen including cost analysis
- Thoroughly understand and ensure BVC’s compliance with all state regulations and restrictions within the cannabis industry
Skills & Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant experience
- 5-7 yrs. experience in sales/planning/wholesale management
- Must have excellent communication skills, professional etiquette, and strong business acumen.
- Must have excellent analytical ability, including problem solving and conceptual thinking
- Solid financial acumen. Ability to comprehend basic financial reports and Profit & Loss Statements
- Ability to track and analyze initiatives and performance to ensure we meet and/or exceed our revenue goals
- Must be advanced user with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word)
- Excellent organizational, teamwork and negotiating skills
- Self-motivated, resourceful, independent, and efficient
- Knowledge of the cannabis industry and/or a desire to expand cannabis education
