Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter/Fabricator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting and welding metal components to create structural frameworks and other metal parts according to specified blueprints, layouts, and instructions. The Fitter will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to understand the specific requirements of the project.
- Metal Preparation: Prepare and align metal components for welding by cutting, grinding, and shaping materials to the required dimensions.
- Welding Operations: Perform various welding techniques including MIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on carbon steel.
- Fitting Tasks: Accurately fit and assemble metal parts and subassemblies using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets specifications and standards, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding and fitting equipment, ensuring it is in good working order, and perform routine maintenance as required.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of materials.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, fabricators, and quality control personnel, to achieve project goals.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Combo Fitter/Welder or in a similar role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; technical certification in welding and fitting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, Stick, FCAW) and metal fitting processes.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various positions (bending, kneeling, etc.).
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure quality work.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with others.
