What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Learning Center Assistant Group Supervisor position at Blair Regional YMCA?
The Blair Regional YMCA Early Learning Center is currently hiring Assistant Group Supervisors in the Young Toddler (ages 1-2) and Older Toddler (ages 2-3) classrooms.
Applicants should be available to work various shifts Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:30AM to 5:30PM, averaging approximately 30-35 hours per week.
Responsible for the following:
- Working with a small group of children under the supervision of a professional staff member.
- Ensuring the care, safety, and well-being of children assigned in his or her group
- Caring for children’s physical needs
- Carrying out activities
- Overseeing children’s play
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and pleasant environment
- Demonstrating increased understanding of child growth and development in working with children, recording activities, and talking with parents
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and on-going trainings which includes fire safety, first aid training, CPR and 9 additional training hours in the areas as required by state licensing
SKILLS:
- Understanding of child growth and development
- Ability to role-model for children
- Ability to apply an understanding of development levels to activities
- Ability to meet the social-emotional, physical and cognitive developmental need of children
- Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment.
- General knowledge of health, safety and first aid
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or its equivalent AND
- Child Development Associate Certificate
- -OR- 2 years of experience in a childcare setting
