POSITION SUMMARY:

· To provide appropriate programs and service using a coaching model with families with infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or disabilities.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION (S) REQUIRED:

· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related area; six months to one-year related experience and/or training.

· Have or be capable of obtaining Developmental Specialist Certification.

· Must successfully pass and maintain pre-employment requirements of: State and/or Federal Criminal Background Check; ARC’s Registry check and drug testing.

· Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license with a record that is acceptable by the agency’s insurance carrier.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provides year round services and supports to children less then three years of age with developmental delays and disabilities; provides services to children and their families.

· Develops and maintains a positive environment and relationship with individuals, families, coworkers, providers, and the community while maintaining respect and support to those served.

· Participates in public awareness activities to promote the HCBDD.

· Determines eligibility for infants and toddlers based on developmental delay criteria, a diagnosis of conditions that may result in a developmental delay, or a previously determined eligibility.

· Attends meetings and participates in the development of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); collaborates with other professionals in the “Help Me Grow” initiative to provide timely centralized intake and effective interventions, evaluations, and therapies.

· Implements individualized interventions within natural environments that enhance the child’s learning and provides information to families that help them meet the needs of their child.

· Provides progress summaries for the child and to the family during their participation in the Early Intervention Program.

· Supports transition of the child and family to preschool special education or other appropriate services.

· Completes appropriate documentation on the child as they relate to intake, evaluations, assessments, and recommendations.

· Complies with Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities rules and regulations in the Early Invention Program.

· Maintains timely case notes and updates in Brittco.

· Understands and abides by HIPAA regulations and standards.

· Reports Unusual Incidents and Major Unusual Incidents as required by law; cooperates with investigators and completes appropriate forms as required.

  • Adheres to HCBDD policies/procedures.
  • Works as a team member to assure coordinated, effective relations between the HCBDD staff, persons supported, family members, providers, departments, and all other related stakeholders.
  • Provides exemplary customer service through courteous, responsive interactions with county board staff, providers, persons supported and their families.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities that contribute to the success of the department and BVC.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with individuals, families/guardians, and providers.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Any combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of: principles and methods of special education, developmental disabilities, delays, and child development, psychology and behavioral disorders, IFSP content, development and implementation, and DODD rules related to Early Intervention

Skills in: Excellent communication skills; Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

Ability to: Organize, prioritize, work independently, and be self-directed; establish and maintain a positive rapport with persons supported, families, providers, staff and employers/organizations in the local community; maintain confidentiality; commitment to BVC and the HCBDD mission, vision and values; lift to 50 pounds; bending and lifting /sit/stand/walk for lengthy periods of time.

Pay: From $22.50 per hour
