The Blanton-Peale Institute & Counseling Center is seeking a Board-Certified psychiatrist to serve as lead psychiatrist and medical director of our New York State Office of Mental Health Article 31 MHOTRS Clinic. The Clinic, located in Midtown Manhattan, provides psychotherapy and complementary psychiatric services to a wide and diverse cross-section of people in New York City, via in-person and virtual telehealth services.
Introduction: The Blanton-Peale Institute & Counseling Center was founded in 1937 by internationally renowned author of The Power of Positive Thinking, Rev. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, and psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton who trained in psychoanalysis with Sigmund Freud. Summary of Position: The Psychiatrist/Medical Director leads a team of psychiatric service providers at the Blanton-Peale Counseling Center, while providing services to a caseload of patients, and working with the Clinic Director to ensure quality holistic interdisciplinary care. The Director collaborates with the Clinic Administration Manager to improve systems necessary for the efficient functioning of psychiatric services, maximizing scheduling, and effective financial management of integrated clinic services.
The Responsibilities Include:
• Sees patients for medication evaluations, medication management, and psychiatric evaluations.
• Supervises part-time psychiatrists and/or psychiatric nurse practitioners in the provision and documentation of psychiatric evaluations, medication management with a holistic whole health and wellness approach.
• Signs all clinic treatment plans and medical forms.
• Available to therapists and psychiatrists for medical questions about client care.
• Collaborates with Clinic Director and therapists regarding emergencies related to client care.
• Provides expertise in high-risk meetings and Incident Committee meetings.
• Collaborates with the Clinic Director and management in strengthening Clinic systems and procedures.

The Director works on site with their schedule set in consultation with Clinic Director.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $125-$150/hour (commensurate with experience, certifications, and multilingual capability).
