Geologist wanted for an established and growing anthracite coal company.


Job Description:

Assist in prospecting for and proving new potential reserves and existing reserves for quality, consistency, and quantity.

Prepare and maintain all environmental permits related to the Company's operations.

Obtain and maintain all necessary zoning, planning, and environmental permissions/permits as required for the current and future operation o existing mines as well as potential land acquisitions.

Arrange and ensure all compliance testing and prepare and submit test results as required by law and/or permit requirements.

Represent the Company at public hearings and meetings with any Regulatory Agencies and/or local government bodies as necessary.

Assist in preparing and maintaining mining permits.

Prepare and submit MSHA permits and documents as required.

Assist in developing reclamation plans to meet all applicable rules and regulations and to maximize the value of the property after mining is complete.

Tour and inspect mine sites to ensure safe work practices related to geologic conditions and environmental compliance.

Support adherence to mining laws and safety regulations, as well as Company rules and regulations.

Assist operation engineers and surveyor as needed.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in geology; or minimum of five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Licensure preferred.

Broad geological knowledge and experience.

Knowledge of college level chemistry and mathematics.

Self motivated with good organizational and communicative skills.

Ability to work with others.

Possess project management skills.

Computer skills should include: Word, Excel, and CAD, Carlson, or similar land modeling programs.

Practical knowledge of local, state and federal regulations governing mining, environmental, safety and plant operations.
