Description
This position will manage part of the Accounting Department in accordance with Blaze's goals, vision, and values. Responsibilities include ensuring Blaze remains in compliance with all rules, regulations and standard accounting practices.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
* Assists with preparing monthly financial statements and associated documents. Assists with the NCUA/State of MN examinations, the annual financial statement audit, and the quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report.
* Assists the Director of Corporate Accounting with the accounting general ledger (GL) reconciliation process
* Assists the Director of Corporate Accounting with the month-end and year-end closing process.
* Works with branch leaders and other managers on accounting related needs and questions.
* Reviews and resolves daily GL errors, troubleshoots GL balancing issues. Provides direction to staff on accounting and GL related questions.
* Maintains the integrity and accuracy of internal Accounting reports and metrics.
* Leads the integration of third-party systems and the core operating system to the GL system.

Other Duties
* Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

* Regular and predictable attendance
* Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operation
Requirements
Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses
* 4-year degree in Accounting or equivalent
* CPA preferred, or eligible to sit for the CPA exam
* Minimum 6 years accounting experience
* Strong preference for any of the following: experience working in a credit union or other financial institution, experience preparing the NCUA 5300 Call Report, experience with the DNA Platform (Fiserv), or an active CPA designation.
Demonstrated Knowledge
* Strong advanced knowledge of accounting principles
* Proficiency with statistics, ratios, fractions, percentages, and other similar mathematical concepts
* Strong GL account reconciliation skills
* Ability to:
o Analyze, problem solve, manage complex projects
o Team build
* Microsoft Office
Communication Skills
Ability to develop and implement responses to members/staff, and to document and develop new and ongoing techniques to improve processes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal staff and public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.
This is an in-office position, it is not a remote position
We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.
The salary range for this position is: $103,000 - $129,000. This range reflects the base salary for this position. We have other benefits associated with this position which include: low-cost medical (as low as $20 a paycheck), dental insurance, vision insurance, quarterly bonuses, generous vacation and sick time hours, paid leave options, up to 6% 401k contribution, and tuition reimbursement.
