Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 1 : 00 PM (4 classes per day)
Position Overview :
BlazerJobs is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher in Sherman, TX, who is passionate about supporting students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. This full-time position involves teaching 4 small classes (12 or fewer students per class) of students with specific learning disabilities in reading, some of whom are diagnosed with dyslexia. The ideal candidate will have special education certification and be open to receiving training in the Reading Horizons program, which will be provided to ensure effective instruction and student progress.
Key Responsibilities :
- Teach and support 4 small groups of students (12 or fewer per class), providing specialized reading instruction tailored to students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, setting goals and monitoring progress.
- Use research-based instructional strategies to support students literacy development, including phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to ensure students needs are met and progress is communicated effectively.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including training in the Reading Horizons program (training provided).
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth, confidence, and independence.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviors, and assessments.
- Attend IEP meetings and participate in case management as needed to ensure proper support and interventions for each student.
- Provide students with a safe and structured learning environment, promoting social and emotional development alongside academic skills.
