Maintenance Technician

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN FOR EXPANDING MANUFACTURING CO.

This position is responsible for improving the reliability of plant equipment in various assigned areas. Reliability is generally improved through preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding plant equipment and machinery. The primary focus of this position is supporting the Maintenance Manager plant-wide including PLCs (programmable logic controllers).

Duties include:

• Effectively and accurately troubleshoot and make routine adjustments and repairs to DC and AC systems including (but not limited to) contactors, relays, VFDs, starters, motors, rectifiers, brakes, pneumatic systems, sensors, controls systems, and PLC components to maintain production and maintenance schedules. Monitor repairs and validate that the problem has been solved. Own the problem until resolved with a focus on doing it right the first time.
• Performing preventative and predictive maintenance as assigned, including cleaning, and lubricating to maintain the proper working order of electrical components for all machinery and equipment up to 480V.
• Demonstrating behaviors in support of company safety procedures with focus on zero injuries. Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe.
• Following and complying with all Safe Quality Food (SQF), HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
• Focus on improving and optimizing PMs by providing feedback on assigned PMs.
• Performing and validating changeovers on equipment and machinery as needed.
• Dismantle, evaluate, and rebuild equipment and machinery as needed. Focus on quality of workmanship by doing the job right the first time and be accountable for results.
• Assisting in the planning process by identifying parts and work required using work order system to enter notifications. Include parts and material information.
• Prioritizing work based on business needs. Maintain a high level of urgency in response to tasks assigned.
• Participating in the Breakdown Elimination process to reduce the frequency of breakdowns and improve equipment reliability.
• Make decisions that are “best for the business” with regards to maintenance costs and overall productivity.
• Keep accurate up to date records of work orders, maintenance activities, and needed repairs utilizing the work order system to maintain proper records.
• Use blueprints, diagrams, centerlines, and OEM manuals to aid in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Assisting operations in understanding equipment through supporting Autonomous Manufacturing Development (AMD).
• Follow Maintenance Standard Procedures and seek to improve machinery-specific procedures where possible.
• Share knowledge and experience with others including dedicated training as assigned.

Schedule: Typically, Monday – Friday. Weekends and evenings as needed for projects during production down time.

Qualifications

• Can lift 50 lbs.
• Must be at least 18 years old

At least 2 years of experience as a maintenance electrician required. Must have demonstrable knowledge of programmable logic controllers. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and circuit diagrams.

Maintenance of all structures and facilities-related systems, for multiple buildings.

Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and troubleshooting of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.

Performs facility maintenance duties including installation, maintenance, and testing of all systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, sprinkler, fire alarm, physical structures and public, office, storage areas, etc.

Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

Reviews and prioritizes maintenance programs, work orders, and schedules. Identifies facility improvements and repair and monitors ongoing mechanical maintenance.

Skilled in mechanical or electrical industrial equipment maintenance.

Repair potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.

May also assist with installations, maintenance, and testing of security and phone systems as well as closed circuit TV system.

Perform general handyman services (i.e. whiteboard installation, picture hanging, minor furniture repair, etc.), ceiling tile replacement, and carpet tile replacement.

Light electrical, i.e. changing ballast, light bulbs, and tubes.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Researches and responds promptly to complaints and provides updates on resolution.

Control maintenance budget and spending by ensuring all purchases and expenses comply with purchasing requirements and obtains necessary approvals.

Assists with negotiating and managing vendor maintenance contracts and warranties.

Builds and develops relationships with key suppliers, maintenance contractors, and tenants.

3. Must be able to travel as needed.

4. Ability to think strategically and achieve organization’s goals relating to position.

5. Added Plus: Experience with pumps, valves, PLC controllers or welding.

6. Must possess integrity and compliance – can be relied upon to act ethically.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $30.00 per hour
