SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Mentor/evaluate trainees and effectively communicate policy guidance to increase awareness as a mechanism for guidance and change.
- In person assessment of poor evaluations and assist in incident investigations to provide the Company with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Board vessels/barges to assess and evaluate personnel as it relates to daily operations and provide Port Captain with a report of specific recommendations.
- Responsible for invoking Stop Work Authority when necessary to stop a violation or obtain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) Policy.
- Conduct all required training of Tankerman and Tankerman Trainees to include Assessments, Module Training, Tankerman school and WEB Trainer.
- Assist in barge-to-barge transfer operations as needed.
- Interview and hire experienced Tankerman and Tankerman Trainees.
- Diagnose issues in the field with regards to personnel and equipment.
• Must posses skills and knowledge to develop BMS training modules from concept to implementation.
- Work on a rotating call schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to read, write and speak clearly in the English language.
- High School diploma or GED required; College preferred.
- Master decking skills; 2 nd issue or better; LG Endorsement; Tankerman Ticket Required.
- Must be able to perform all tasks that Deckhand and Tankermen are required to do. (See Deckhand and Tankerman job description.)
- Ability to oversee transfers on new equipment and at new facilities.
- Expertise in training experienced Tankerman and overseeing/coordinating Tankerman Training Program; tracking movement of trainees and making suggestions to Operations for the best possible training scenarios to include off-site training (fleets or docks).
- Must be able to assist with Deckhand class and with hands on training at WEB Fleet.
- Must be able to attend training as necessary to perform job and increase knowledge.
- Proficiency in or knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including but not limited to Excel and Microsoft Word software.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills. • Position requires ability to work nights and weekends
- Write and implement policies regarding cargo operations.
- Must be highly self-motivated and possess organizational skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and business-related meetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History check and possess and maintain a current valid driver's license in their state of residence. Travel to/from vessels as required. Frequent overnight travel may be required.
