Now more than ever, people come to Bleu Coffee for their daily coffee fix & to feel connected in their communities. We are now seeking part-time operationally savvy & customer focused Barista's to join our team at our busy coffee shop in Jersey City.

We are looking for a Barista at our new location to prepare and serve various types of hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea.

Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our guests.

Duties when working a shift:

First Priority: CUSTOMERS

• Immediately greet customers as they enter
• Engage customers before taking orders (i.e: How are you today?)
• Educate customers on menu items and answer any questions they ask
• Discern customer’s preferences and make recommendations accordingly, with an upselling mentality
• Take Orders while paying attention to details (i.e: Preference of roast, dairy, syrup…)
• Received and Process payments on our digital platform (tips will be available for clients to include)
• Serve Pastry while taking orders (no table service)
• Prepare and serve beverages following recipes
• Provide genuine connection and to each and every local that comes through our doors
• Take orders while paying attention to details (i.e: preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios..)
• Describe menu items and suggesting products to customers
• Prepare beverages following BLEU recipes
• Master the Bleu Coffee standard of making coffee on espresso machinery
• Serve beverages and pastries during order (no table service)
• Prepare fresh baked pastries & pack up orders with care for our locals
• Help locals navigate contactless ordering through our digitally enabled platforms (including cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar area clean
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations

Second Priority: Between customers

• Keep the Coffee area clean
• Brew Drip coffee as needed
• Maintain an empty dirty dish bin
• Wash and put away dishes in the kitchen/cabinets
• Fill the drinking water container, mason cup tray, and buffet items
• Maintain clean tables and chairs and sweeping crumbs off of the floor (if needed)
• Keep an eye on inventory and take notes when applicable
• Complete Tasks on the checklist (for the appropriate shift) with initials by completed tasks
• Make notes of any equipment maintenance needs and report them immediately
• Comply with BLEU code of conduct and NJ health and safety regulations
• Recommend new menu items and communication customer feedback to managers
