Responsibilities
Overall, the Director of Sales plays a critical role in driving business growth, expanding market presence, driving brand awareness, customer acquisition, revenue growth through strategic marketing initiatives, and creating strategic opportunities for the company to achieve its objectives.
- Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve business growth objectives. This includes identifying new business opportunities, evaluating market trends, and assessing the competitive landscape.
- Market Research and Analysis: Conducting market research to identify potential areas for growth and expansion. Analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making.
- Identifying Opportunities: Proactively seeking out new business opportunities, partnerships, and alliances that align with the company's strategic objectives. This may involve networking, attending industry events, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Leading sales efforts to acquire new clients, customers, or contracts. Developing sales strategies, setting targets, and overseeing the sales team to drive revenue growth.
- Account Strategy Development & Execution: Developing strategic account plans that outline goals, objectives, and action plans for VIP accounts and executing the plan. This may involve collaborating with sales, marketing, and other teams to identify growth opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them.
- Negotiation and Deal-Making: Negotiating contracts, agreements, and partnerships with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. Ensuring that deals are structured to maximize value for the company while mitigating risks.
- Partnership Development: Cultivating strategic partnerships and alliances with other organizations to expand market reach, access new customers, and create value-added offerings.
- Product and Service Innovation: Collaborating with product development and marketing teams to identify opportunities for new product or service offerings. Providing input into product development roadmaps based on market needs and customer feedback.
- Team Leadership and Management: Leading and managing a team of business development professionals in the future. This includes hiring, training, coaching, and providing ongoing support to ensure the team meets its goals and objectives.
- Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients and customers. Understanding their needs, challenges, and goals, and working to address them effectively to foster long-term partnerships.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities, such as sales pipeline, conversion rates, and revenue growth. Providing regular reports and updates to senior management on progress toward business development goals.
- Risk Management: Assessing and managing risks associated with business development initiatives, including market risks, financial risks, and reputational risks. Developing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously seeking opportunities to improve business development processes, strategies, and outcomes. Gathering feedback, analyzing data, and implementing changes to drive better results and enhance overall business performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in business development, sales, or related fields.
- Familiarity with the tech industry in which the company operates is important for understanding market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills are crucial for building relationships with clients, closing deals, and driving revenue growth.
- Leadership skills are important for effectively managing a team of business development and marketing professionals, and foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Strong networking skills are important for building relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with clients.

- Fluency in English
- Flexibility in work schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends if necessary) and willingness to travel.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a similar advanced degree
- Prior experience in a client success role within the industry or a related field.
- Knowledge of customer success best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working with SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) products or subscription-based services.
- Familiarity with customer success tools and CRM software is a plus.(Intercom. HubSpot, Consensus, Loom, Etc.)
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to handle challenging client situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Certification in customer success or related fields.
- Understanding of data analytics and the ability to derive insights from customer data.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive customer satisfaction and retention metrics.
