What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitality Associate - Parks position at Block by Block?
Through hospitality, the Park Host provides a tangible presence of security, a source of information, and a welcoming invitation to enjoy the various amenities and activities in the park. Park Hosts play a key role in ensuring the park is a welcoming urban green space, that contributes to downtown Nashville's mission, vitality, sustainability, and positive activation.
HOURS & LOCATION:
2:00pm to 10:30pm days off to be determined.
Currently there are three parks serviced by Block By Block, all are downtown. You may be assigned to one or work in all three.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides hospitality, serving as a friendly face for park visitors, offering general information about the park, its programs, and the immediate vicinity.
- Executes planned parks activations
- Executing horticultural duties, and maintaining the environmental upkeep, including detailed cleanliness, and frequent audits of parks grounds
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with Residents, Merchants, Employees, Visitors, and Law Enforcement
- Maintains effective and professional communication with all Park Hosts, Team leads, Parks Management and stakeholders.
- Daily report of all park duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Reliable and accountable individual with a strong work ethic and personal integrity
- Excellent communication skills with a positive attitude
- Must possess a friendly disposition and professional demeanor
- Able to resolve conflict and escalate as necessary
- Multitasker with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and vigilant dedication to safety
- Must be passionate about public space and willing to work outdoors PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Requires the ability to stand for long periods
- Requires the ability to lift equipment & recreational inventory, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
· Professionalism: Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism. Clean, neat and buttoned up.
· Physical Abilities: Must have the physical capacity to traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen-minute, and one thirty-minute meal break). Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
· Communication: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
