What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senate Reporter position at Bloomberg BNA?
Bloomberg Government is seeking a reporter to lead our Senate coverage. The reporter will work with the rest of our Congress Team to break news out the Senate, quickly and authoritatively cover action on the Senate floor and from behind-closed-door caucus meetings and write enterprise and analysis that connect the dots for our readers about the power players and politics shaping the chamber. The position includes working on our flagship newsletter Congress Tracker, which publishes daily when Congress is in session, and collaborating with other reporters and legislative analysts. There are also opportunities to travel and cover Senate campaigns.

What you will do:
- Demonstrated ability to report and write news stories and features with minimal editing under deadline.
- Working knowledge of journalism principles and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and cover a beat, including developing sources, developing story ideas, and conducting interviews.
- Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
- Ability to attend outside meetings, hearings, news events, etc., and to report on them clearly and accurately for deadline.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to use Bloomberg Industry Group publishing tools and other technology effectively with Bloomberg Industry Group training.
- Excellent proofreading skills.
You need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred.
- 5 - 7 years’ experience in journalism, including at least one year reporting on subject areas covered by assigned publications.
