Concession Stand Worker (part time, seasonal)

CONCESSION STAFF

The Concession Staff are responsible for the daily operations of the concession operation: serving customers, filling food orders, operating a register accurately, the upkeep of the concession food prep-area, assisting with daily cleaning of the concession food eating areas, working with additional concession staff, and maintaining friendly patron relations. They work under the general direction and supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

s Concession Staff are responsible for maintaining, preparing and running food for the daily operations.

s Concession Staff service one window of the concession area: taking and filling orders.

s Concession Staff are responsible for their register and must maintain accurate records ensuring that all money accepted matches the food sold when inventoried.

s Concession Staff are responsible for answering questions, dealing with possible problems and maintaining positive customer service when dealing with the patrons

s Concession Staff are responsible for the concession operations while the Manager on duty is busy or away from the stand.

s Concession Staff are responsible for the daily shift cleaning responsibilities.

s Concession Staff members will assist with the daily cleaning of the concession eating area: sweeping, cleaning tables, emptying garbage, etc.

s Concession Staff are responsible for the outdoor concession area: maintaining its cleanliness and sweeping up where necessary to ensure a safe and clean environment.

s Concession Staff are responsible for attending all staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and other staff-improvement activities.

s Concession Staff perform any other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

s Must be neat, clean, and prepared for work when they punch in.

s Must follow proper food sanitation and handling procedures when dealing with food.

s Must possess a sense of urgency and have the ability to multitask efficiently.

s Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with adults and children patrons and maintain self-control and composure when dealing with the public, cheerfully and respectfully.

s Must possess maturity and responsibility.

s Must possess the willingness to work with the team of concession staff.

s Must possess the ability to complete all daily cleaning procedures of the interior of the stand as well as the eating area.

s Must possess a thorough knowledge of concession stand: the line procedure, the food sold, the prices, etc. and the ability to explain this to the patrons.

s Must possess a commitment to their job.

s Must be able to take direction and requests from the Pool Manager on duty where necessary.

s Must take pride in their position with the Bloomingdale Park District.

s Must possess ability to work harmoniously with staff and patrons while firmly enforcing District regulations.

DURING OPERATION

s Be responsible for the windows of operation.

s Take orders from patrons.

s Fill orders.

s Execute notifying other staff members (if any) of the orders coming in to fill your order.

s Keep accurate register records.

s Keep food areas clean.

s Keep up effective customer service.

s Maintain concession eating area, emptying garbage and cleaning tables when necessary.

CLOSING RESPONSIBILITIES

s Complete inventory and restock if necessary.

s Complete cleaning requirements and responsibilities.

s Walk the fence line and pick up debris on both sides of the fence to ensure that there are not wrappers, garbage or litter.

s Assist the other staff member(s) in completing cleaning assignments.

s Verify that all duties are completed and complete the cleaning checklist.

s Bring the checklist to the supervisor for verification.

s Verify with the supervisor that you can punch out.

WORK HOURS AND COMPENSATION

The Concession Staff position is a part-time position and is paid every two weeks at an agreed salary. The position is classified as a non-exempt hourly employee status. No overtime (over 40 hours per week) is allowed unless pre-authorized by the Recreation Supervisors. The hours worked daily may vary. The pay range for this position is $14-$16/hr if under age 18. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

May be required to work in varying weather conditions, which could include cold, rain, and extreme heat.

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS

Concessions staff must be able to follow instructions from supervisors and co-workers and

must be safety conscientious and use good judgment.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

• Works closely with co-workers.
• Must work around the public.
• Must work under supervision and direction of supervisors.
• May have to work under stressful situations.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

· Works in a climate of various degrees Fahrenheit.

· Occasionally lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds.

· Must respond to situations quickly and accurately.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Seasonal

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
