Accountable to: Assistant Director of Parks and Planning

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A high school degree or equivalent

· Must be at least 18 years old.

· Have a valid Illinois driver's license.

· Must pass pre-employment screenings and background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

· Perform the job in compliance with District Safety Policies and Procedures.

· Demonstrate and support the Park District’s mission statement, vision, and core values.

· Must be able to safely perform duties in the presence of the general population and our park patrons in public areas.

· Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with fellow employees to maintain positive and effective working relationships.

· Ability to operate all District vehicles and equipment, including hand and power tools.

· Must be flexible with schedule changes, extra hours, and emergency calls.

· Capacity to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.

· Removing all refuse and trash from parks and playgrounds.

· Performs delivery of equipment and supplies as needed.

· Maintain Park District turf areas including mowing, trimming, seeding, and fertilizing.

· Perform landscape maintenance to include watering, mulching, weeding, planting of flowers/shrubs and trimming of trees and shrubs.

· Remove snow and ice from walks, drives, and paths and maintain ice rink.

· Maintain athletic fields including dragging and striping.

· Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

· Submits a daily log of completed work to immediate supervisor.

· Willing to obtain a valid Operator Pesticide License.

· Perform other duties and functions as directed.

HOURS OF WORK AND COMPENSATION:

This position requires non-traditional workweek (up to 30 hours per week, including work on the weekends) schedules dependent on the maintenance needs of the Bloomingdale Park District.
