The Bloomington Public Schools team includes more than 2,700 teachers, paraprofessionals, support and district staff serving more than 10,000 students. Bloomington provides unique programming options for students who qualify for one or more of the thirteen areas of special education eligibility established by the State of Minnesota. Specialized education programming is provided at each of our sites, and center-based programs are located at several sites within the district. Role Description
The special education positions are full time working at one of our 18 educational sites. Staff will work with children to provide interventions and support, implement behavioral and academic plans, and collaborate with general education staff and families. Daily tasks may include providing direct instruction, monitoring student progress, facilitating IEP meetings, conducting evaluations and progress monitoring.
Qualifications
- Special Education degree/certification or 4 year degree and special education program in process
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working with children with disabilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Patience, compassion, and empathic
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment is a plus
