We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst who can hit the ground running and work cross-functionally across technical and business teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data warehousing, data mapping, and AWS architecture from a business analysis standpoint. This role will serve as a bridge between data engineering, analytics, and cloud infrastructure teams, helping to connect business metrics to data sources and documenting requirements for agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements gathering for complex data and cloud projects.
- Conduct data mapping and assist in identifying and validating data sources.
- Write and interpret SQL queries to support business needs.
- Develop story cards and story mapping, and document requirements in JIRA.
- Understand AWS architecture (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda) and how data flows across components from ingestion to transformation.
- Identify stopping points in data pipelines and collaborate with the appropriate teams to troubleshoot or enhance flow.
- Understand and ensure compliance with data privacy rules.
- Work closely with data engineers, cloud engineers, developers, and analytics engineers to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
- Facilitate measurement planning and map business KPIs to technical data sources.
- Define and support ingestion processes into the data ecosystem.
- Act as a liaison and subject matter expert (SME) on cloud data flows and architecture.
- Assist in UAT planning and execution, working with stakeholders to validate functionality.
- Support wireframe development, mockups, and potentially prototypes to visualize requirements.
- Provide analytical support and perform root cause analysis on business process issues.
- Help assess the impact of system changes across the business and perform cost-benefit analysis.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years as a Business Systems Analyst working on data warehouse projects, including data mapping
- 3 years working with SQL (must be able to write and interpret queries)
- Must have AWS tools and data flow within a cloud environment (Redshift, S3, Glue, etc.)
- Must have experience with RedShift and Snowflake
- Proven experience in data warehousing, data mapping, and working with complex data environments
- Agile experience is a must, including working with JIRA for user story and requirement tracking
- Comfortable working with both technical (engineers, developers) and business teams
- Familiarity with storyboarding, wireframing, and process flow mapping
- Able to connect business metrics with technical data points
