What We Need

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
This job is also eligible for variable pay.

What We Need
The Ancillary Contract Manager will assist in the development, management, and execution of the contracting strategy for assigned segments of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts ancillary provider network.

Day To Day Responsibilities
- Develop and negotiate contracting approaches and methodologies which maximize Blue Cross’s competitive position and support its strategic vision of making quality health care more affordable.
- Responsible for the analysis, negotiation/renegotiation, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all functions related to provider contracting for a set of ancillary provider networks.
- Work on the development of rate proposals needed to support contract negotiations using Excel-based modeling tools.
- Draft and negotiate contract language.
- Work collaboratively with clinical, financial, and legal teams in the execution of contracts and proposals.
- Respond to both internal and external customers regarding provider contractual arrangements, both for contract implementation and ongoing operations.
- Manage corporate interdependencies to assure timely and accurate resolution of complex and sensitive provider issues.
- Responsible for the accuracy of contract proposals, rate proposals and final contract implementation.
- Encourage change innovation and risk taking.
- Maintain and foster key contacts and effective working relationships with the provider community.
- Understanding of provider contract development; demonstrated understanding of health care reimbursement methods and strategies.
- Experience negotiating with providers, particularly clinical laboratory, home infusion therapy and rehabilitation hospitals.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and operate collaboratively as part of a team to achieve effective outcomes and resolution.
- Understanding of provider health care issues and trends. Ability to relate this understanding to current and future provider discussions.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills; effective presentation, project management and planning skills.
- Effective management of multiple and competing priorities.
- BS/BA or commensurate work experience required.
