Position: Lifeguard – Part Time
Reports to: Waterpark Operations Supervisors & Waterpark Operations Manager
Job Purpose: To offer a level of service that exceeds the customers’ expectations and establishes or maintains a positive and productive relationship both within the organization as well as with the guests.
Job Summary: Responsible for monitoring the safety of guests and responding to emergency situations both in and out of the water. Responsible for enforcing established rules, complying with regulations, and maintaining professional lifeguarding practices. Ensure a positive public relations image.
Duties
- Willingness to accept the most effective role.
- Takes direction from both Head Lifeguards and Waterpark Operations Supervisors.
- Provides surveillance of guests primarily in aquatic areas but also on decks and within the resort.
- Enforces the rules and regulations and renders appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Maintains skills at test-ready level in accordance with Blue Harbor Resort Traditions and the Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program.
- Attends mandatory daily and weekly in-service EAP training.
- Maintains E&A 10/20 protection standards at all times within assigned zones.
- Responds to emergency situations in their assigned zone. Assists in communicating emergency situations outside of their zone.
- Advises aquatics management of unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions.
- Possesses a general knowledge of the pool, rides, and attraction operations.
- Assists guests in a polite and expedient manner.
- Performs daily routine chores and maintenance of waterpark to ensure neat and orderly appearance including the cleaning of decks and locker rooms.
- Handles and communicates daily with guests in a professional, courteous manner.
- Maintains a businesslike atmosphere both Front of House and Back of House areas of resort.
- Assists other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- Good oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care, sensitive consideration and efficient service to guests.
- Must be at least 16 years of age for elevated stations, operating conveyors, and deep water.
- Available to work at least 2 days per week and work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Each Resort reserves the right to require more availability as a minimum for employment.
Physical Requirements
- Swim 50 yards in 4 ft. of water and retrieve a 10 lb. brick at bottom of water.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a humid, warm environment and be immersed in water for extended periods of time
- Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
