What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator position at Blue Jay Communications Inc.?
Underground Locator
Duties and Responsibilities (included but are not limited to)
Operate horizontal directional drill locator equipment in accordance with company and industry
standards
Plan horizontal directional drill bore path for installation of conduit, duct, cable.
Observe obstacles that may include unlocated or private utilities
Have understanding of various ground conditions: rock, clay, sand, cobble, etc.
Perform routine labor (potholing, equipment setup, conduit, duct, cable placement, set
pedestals) as required
Assure all located utilities that are in the construction path have been potholed
Document and record the finished product
Ensure cleanliness of job sites
Work efficiently and complete work in a timely manner
Ensure accountability of all tools and materials
Additional Abilities
Willing to work in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions
Ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb, and lift throughout each day
Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers, homeowners, and customers
Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable work attendance
Must be willing to travel
Must have valid driver's license - Class A CDL preferred
Must be able to pass drug and background screening
Must be authorized to work in the United States
