Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is responsible for managing the inbound and outbound shipments of goods and materials, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role involves coordinating logistics, maintaining inventory records, and working closely with warehouse, purchasing, and customer service teams to optimize shipping and receiving operations.
Main Responsibilities:
· Oversee all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper documentation, labeling, and handling.
· Inspect shipments for accuracy, damage, or discrepancies and coordinate with suppliers or carriers to resolve issues.
· Prepare and process shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
· Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and internal teams to schedule shipments and deliveries.
· Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory using warehouse management systems (WMS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
· Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and shipping/receiving procedures.
· Work closely with warehouse staff to organize and store received materials efficiently.
· Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
· Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as needed.
· Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to address shipping or receiving concerns.
· Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 1-5 years preferred in shipping and receiving
Skills:
· Knowledge of shipping procedures, logistics, and inventory control.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with warehouse or inventory management systems.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
· Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate warehouse equipment (forklift certification is a plus).
· Familiarity with domestic and international shipping regulations (e.g., customs, freight forwarding) is a plus.
Workplace Conditions and Physical Expectations:
· Warehouse and office setting with exposure to shipping docks and outdoor elements.
· May require occasional overtime or weekend shifts based on business needs.
