SCHEDULE: Up to 40 hours/week, based on contract funding

    • Employees schedule to work 25-34 hours = 12 VTO hours

    • Voting Leave – as needed upon request
    • Bereavement Leave – up to 4 days to eligible employees

JOB SUMMARY: The Employment Training Coordinator helps individuals in our community become workforce ready and supports their placement in jobs in our region. The primary area of program responsibility is within the scope of the Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). The purpose of the Pre-ETS program is to provide services for youth with disabilities, ages 14-21, as described on the Pre-ETS service plan.  This position works closely with employers, as well as community and workforce partners to determine participant needs and connects available training and related supportive services to meet those needs. Responsible for meeting individual performance goals.


OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Ensure completion of all steps in client assessment, enrollment, job placement, employment training, and outcome documentation by providing training, supervision, and resources to all Employment Training staff, including but not limited to: 
    • Orient to available services and enrollment processes. 
    • Conduct client eligibility assessment/determination for services. 
    • Assist/instruct clients in completion of program documents. 
    • Enroll clients, initiate service plans and maintain accurate service documentation files.
    • Complete necessary paperwork to submit to funding source or administering department/ agency. 
    • Establish and maintain collaborations with local businesses for employment opportunity referrals. Develop agreements with employer to include specific training objectives and timelines. 
    • Provide job counseling and follow-up services as appropriate: Monitor and evaluate progress toward goals set forth in the training/service plan. 
  • Outreach and Recruitment: 
    • Develop appropriate tools and methods for client outreach according to program guidelines. 
    • Conduct client outreach and education activities. 
    • Act as community liaison between BMAC and public and private businesses. 
  • Provide Pre-employment training as appropriate: 
    • Assist individuals with application for financial aid for post-secondary education. 
    • Provide instruction either individually or in group settings on career awareness, vocational exploration, and work readiness. 
  • Reporting/Recordkeeping: 
    • Complete/oversee all necessary records as required by BMAC, client contract management records, and work experience contracts. 
    • Evaluate effectiveness of training and progress toward training objectives. 
    • Monitor program for compliance with terms and conditions, financial obligations, and federal and regional rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and Oversee Pre-ETS workshops:
    • Develop and implement Job Exploration, Self-Advocacy, Work-Based Learning, Workplace Readiness Training and Post-Secondary Education Counseling curriculum.
    • Employ various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
    • Plan, prepare, and present fun and engaging lessons that take into consideration different learning styles. 
  • Assist the Community Education & Engagement Director in contract funding activities: 
    • Prepare grant proposals to Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), including program performance expectations and budget. 
    • Monitor and supervise contract expectations (budget and performance). 
    • Supervise and manage staffing level of operations in accordance with expected outcomes and budget limitations. 
    • Coordinate staff training as appropriate for program goals and objectives. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Relevant experience and/or education may be substituted for either education or work history.

  • Education or experience equivalent to bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field.
  • One year of relevant work experience in human services delivery, social work, case management, or other client service delivery. 
  • Must pass a background check through DSHS as a condition of employment.

  • Ability to provide exceptional client-focused services in coordination with our partners.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships effectively and professionally with families, students and teachers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques. 
  • Ability to establish working relationships with business and community agency partners.
  • Reporting and data management:
  • Ability to monitor, problem solve and improve grant operations.
  • Ability to report on grant progress and seek grant funding. 
  • Recordkeeping and technology skills. 
  • Working knowledge of computer operations with Windows system and various software programs, particularly MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
  • Ability to compile and to accurately input and organize data, information, and files. 
  • Ability to learn/use CAP60 software system. 
  • Communications skills: 
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend a wide variety of materials. 
  • Ability to provide clear, concise communication and documentation.
  • Ability to manage one’s time efficiently to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and be self-sufficient.


Certifications

Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of vehicle insurance. Employee must provide own vehicle. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in an office environment, with frequent interruptions. Some local travel required for meetings. May include travel throughout Walla Walla and Columbia counties.

Primarily sedentary work at desk and working on a computer. Occasional moving up to 20lbs.
